Is it possible to overcharge an iphone 4
Apple does make durable phones, sure. Some may bend a bit, but the battery is safe. Apple uses the same Li-Ion technology as other manufacturers. There have been several incidents with iPhones catching fire because of their batteries.
So this is one of the reasons why charging your iPhone overnight is not a great idea. If you like to avoid all risks, even those with the tiniest of odds — then charging it during the day is your best bet. The iPhone wireless charging technology heats the device even more. This may sound dumb to most of you, but experts suggest using a plate or other non-burning material to place your iPhone while charging overnight. Especially if you use a standard Qi iPhone X wireless charger.
It makes a lot of sense when you think about it. You should be especially careful if you use an iPhone wireless charger since it generates more heat than the conventional one. Not only that but your battery ages with time on its own. Still, if you intend to use your iPhone for a longer period than that, keep in mind the battery will inevitably lose its capacity in time. However, your cell phone battery needs only about two hours to recharge itself completely.
The green chart represents the overnight charging of an iPhone. So overcharging it at night will inevitably diminish its capacity over time. See the maximum capacity? This is the optimal charge level of your iPhone or any other smartphone for that matter to prolong its battery life. Thankfully, Apple knows about this issue. Then your iPhone will still be plugged in but not charging. Thumbs up, Apple. Once again, a debatable topic. First of all — fully discharging a Li-Ion battery may damage it, thus reducing its capacity.
Once the battery dies, you have to go to a licensed store to get a replacement. Nevertheless, prices went up again since the 1 st of January, Apparently, most iPhone users prefer to spend some cash instead of charging their iPhones correctly.
Still, we found a poll with more than 16, answers which sheds some light on the question. Source of the poll: TheJournal. Chart by the author. However, if you intend to use your phone for a longer period, you should consider unplugging the Apple iPhone charger at night.
So if you are not charging your iPhone at night, how can you go a whole day without losing power? Still, you can extend it by charging it right. Most people have at least an hour between waking up and going to work. If you have a lunch break, that would be a perfect time as well. Short but frequent charges work way better than a single long charge. If you are usually on the move, a power bank could be a great solution.
There are thousands of devices out there that could charge your iPhone while on the go. To summarize everything said so far — short, frequent recharges work better than fully charging your iPhone overnight. SEI buildup reduces the overall capacity of a battery. Charging your battery to full capacity less often, and not letting it run totally dry, can extend its life—somewhat.
Putting less stress on the electrodes results in less degradation, and ultimately higher capacity for a longer period of time. Heat is another factor that negatively affects battery life. The people behind the wireless charging standard are dismissive of these concerns, however. Treffers even suggested that frequent top-ups, which are common with wireless charging, may actually extend battery life.
The major phone manufacturers declined to provide any recommendations for specific charging techniques when we asked, but they do offer vague tips on their websites. So, charging your phone all the time and letting it run dry are habits that could shorten its battery life.
May 30, AM in response to quasi contract In response to quasi contract. I'm having exactly the same problem. My iphone suddenly stopped working one day 6mths after purchase and so I took it back to the shop. They have told me that I have overcharged it and that the motherboard needs replacing and that iphones are very sensitive products. They told me that I have made the warranty void by overcharging. I don't think I have overcharged as I have onlycharged when battery nearly empty and from what I have read only they battery would be affected if I had indeed been overcharging it.
I have read the links but cannot find what Quasi mentioned. I really don't want to have to pay to have this feixed as I don't belive I have misused it. Any advice? May 30, AM. Does not sound like you are dealing with Apple. It sounds like you are dealing with a 3rd party company, Apple employees would know that is not true. The "shop" is wrong Do what Dah-veed mentioned and contact Apple directly. Question: Q: overcharging iphone4?
